NMC has approved 4,201 new PG medical seats in broad specialties for the academic year 2025–2026 in private medical colleges. From 3,123, the total number of postgraduate seats in private institutions has gone up to 7,324 with this permission.

In a notification, the MARB indicated the decision to stakeholders, noting that a consolidated list of newly approved and improved seats had been uploaded.

A separate circular was issued from the NMC Director regarding the MARB message wherein the institutions, students, and parents were informed to take note of the revised seat matrix. It was also clarified in the announcement that these additional seats belong to the category of Broad Specialties (BS) and are only for private medical schools for the coming academic year.

Letters of Permission for additional seats are being processed, MARB said. However, counseling authorities have been informed that the list on the NMC website will suffice for the counseling process, and they need not wait for LOPs.
