Khelo Delhi-Delhi Khel Mahakumbh starts today

Khelo Delhi-Delhi Khel MahaKumbh starts today, and the aim of today's Khel MahaKumbh is to support and sustain a healthy sports culture in the national capital.
Tournaments will be held in seven important sports disciplines, said Delhi Minister Ashish Sood in a meeting to discuss the tournament with fitness and sports experts.
Football, basketball, volleyball, and kabaddi are some examples. The event will also help in assessing and improving the sports facilities in Delhi, he further added.
Over 30,000 participants are needed for this sporting event that will last for a month, the government wants, according to the Minister.
Further, according to sports minister Mr. Sood, Mahakumbh would also provide a strong platform for women sports persons, with their participation and security being a special emphasis.
He said that he is sure that this plan would help build a vibrant and robust sports culture in the capital, which would eventually translate into Delhi winning many more medals at national and international tournaments in the years to come.
