Delhi government releases the private school admissions schedule

The Delhi government has released the admission calendar for entry-level private school classes for the 2026–2027 academic year. Parents can register for their children in the new school year starting December 4, 2025. The Directorate of Education, DoE released a circular stating that schools are required to display their admission requirements and points on available seats, apart from EWS/DG/CWSN categories by November 28, 2025.
- The forms for admission to entry level classes will be available from December 4, 2025. The deadline for submitting application forms in schools is December 27, 2025.
- The schools are required to upload the details of all applicants on January 9, 2026 followed by the marks allotted to each child under the points system by January 16.
- The first list of selected candidates will be released on January 23, 2026.
- Parents can raise queries regarding point allocation from January 24 to February 3, 2026.
- The second list will be issued on February 9, 2026.
- The admission process will close on March 19, 2026.
For the 2026–2027 school year, a child must be three years old for nursery, four years old for kindergarten, and five years old for first grade by March 31, 2026.
At the head of school level, schools can give a relaxation in age as much as a month.
The Education administration has made it clear that no school is allowed to enforce standards that the administration had previously scrapped. The schools are also supposed to follow the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act when coming up with the criteria. Schools will also indicate, on their websites, the points breakdown for each criterion.
Also, they have to fill in information about the children who were admitted under available seats, including the grades they obtained using the point system.
Apart from this, the DoE has mentioned that charging capitation fees or forcing parents to buy school prospectuses is not allowed. Only a registration fee of Rs 25, which is non-refundable, can be levied by the schools.
