The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to release the new curricula for Classes 9-12 for 2026-2027 today at 3 PM as part of an overhaul of the education system. CBSE is also implementing a recent National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-2023) for Class 9 that will be effective this academic year.
Thus, Class 9 will have a new curriculum today and also Class 10 will have a new curriculum today. The introductory section of the Secondary Curriculum (Part I) 2026-2027 will include a new schedule of studies and other major changes. CBSE will be hosting a special webinar to explain these changes as well. Those who wish to participate in this webinar may do so by visiting the CBSE Academic Portal's official YouTube link. All curriculum documents will be available on the CBSE Academic Portal. To facilitate this, schools must print the entire curriculum including the introduction and guidelines and provide them to teachers and students.
As part of their communications to principals, the board has stated that schools need to prepare for the implementation of the revised curriculum. Both the general guidelines and individual subject specific curricula must be adhered to. According to the CBSE, “the new curriculum has been developed to support the vision of the NCF-2023 and will focus on competency-based education, experiential learning and flexible opportunities to provide students with a series of holistic experiences.”
In addition to having to notify parents/guardians and students about the major changes, school leaders must also ensure that teachers have awareness of the changes and that there are specially scheduled Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) that are held to assist with the smooth introduction of the revised curriculum in the 2026-2027 school year.
