Jamia Millia Islamia steps up technical education
...

On April 8, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) opened a Center of Excellence for Professional Skill Development at its University Polytechnic, marking a significant advancement in technical education. The center's goal is to give students skills that are applicable to the industry and the future.
Vice Chancellor Professor Mazhar Asif presided over the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by important figures such as Carrier Air-conditioning Ltd. MD Sundresan Narayanan, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology Prof. Mini Shaji Thomas, and Registrar Prof. Mohammad Mahtab Alam Rizvi.

Professor Asif, who gave the event's keynote presentation, claimed that the new center would bridge the gap between industry demands and academic research. "This is part of our vision to turn JMI into a centre of practical and job-oriented learning," he stated.

On April 10, 2025, JMI will terminate its online admissions site for undergraduate and graduate programs, such as BTech and BArch. Online applications are available at admission.jmi.ac.in for qualified applicants.

This year, CUET scores at the undergraduate, graduate, diploma, and advanced diploma levels will be used to determine admission to 25 programs. To further encourage accessibility for students from different regions of India, entrance exams for 29 more programs will be held in nine Indian cities.

14 new courses covering topics like design, computer science, fine arts, and vocational skills have been added by Jamia. These include the majority of self-financed or nighttime programs, which allow for flexible study.

JMI has changed its foreign student pricing policy and reduced application fees for SAARC candidates in an effort to attract more international students. Two seats on the BDS course are reserved for foreign nationals, and overseas PhD candidates can now participate in online interviews.
